At Sysmex, we are looking for a Field Applications Specialist in Hematology who wants to consolidate a long-term career within a leading in vitro diagnostics company, with strong and continuous growth over the last 15 years.
You will join our Diagnostics Department, supporting the North of Portugal (up to Coimbra and Castelo Branco), and acting as a key technical and clinical partner for customers and internal teams, while also collaborating closely with the sales team.

Role mission:
As a Field Applications Specialist in Hematology, you will act as the clinical and technical expert for Sysmex hematology solutions in the North of Portugal, while also actively supporting sales activities, collaborating with the sales team to develop customer-oriented solutions, drive business growth, and ensure the successful implementation and adoption of our technologies.
In this role you will:
🔬 Field Applications Specialist – Application Responsibilities
Provide technical, clinical, and scientific support to customers in hematology diagnostics.
Act as a trusted advisor, defining laboratory workflows together with the customer.
Be responsible for the correct configuration of Sysmex solutions according to customer needs.
Manage the installation process, from system configuration to go-live.
Train users to operate Sysmex systems in accordance with Instructions for Use (IFU).
Act as the technical expert during demonstrations of Sysmex solutions.
Coordinate and interact with internal Sysmex teams (Technical Service, ICS, Business Sector Managers, etc.) to ensure seamless customer support.
Document and report application-related activities in CRM.
📈Commercial & Sales Support Responsibilities
Promote Sysmex products and services, highlighting their clinical and operational value.
Co-develop tailored solutions with customers, including scientific support and workflow studies.
Collaborate with the Business Sector Manager and Regional Sales Manager to define and execute sales strategies.
Support the preparation of economic proposals, participate in negotiations, and contribute to closing agreements.
Register and manage all sales opportunities in CRM (Sales Funnel / Forecast).
Ensure continuous and accurate CRM updates with relevant commercial information.
Participate in local events, workshops, and scientific meetings related to laboratory technology and diagnostic value.
Collect competitive intelligence and market trends and share insights with the sales and marketing teams.
Job requirements
What you need to be sucessful:
Professional Background
University degree in Life Sciences (Biology, Biomedicine, Biotechnology, Pharmacy, or similar).
Minimum 3-4 years of experience in Hematology IVD, ideally as an Application Specialist or Product Marketing Specialist.
Proven experience providing technical support to internal and external customers.
Strong knowledge of the IVD sector and clinical laboratory workflows.
Experience in strategic marketing and technical training (preferred).
Languages & IT Skills
Portugues: Native level
English: Fluent (written and spoken)
Spanish is a plus
Proficiency in Microsoft Office, email tools and basic database usage.
Other important requirments:
Willingness to travel up to 60% of working time.
Ability to understand core laboratory operational processes in depth.

Strong customer orientation, with the ability to understand clinical and operational laboratory needs.
Clear communication and training skills, capable of explaining complex technical concepts.
